Archaeologists have found a treasure with ornaments Mansi

Tyumen archeologists excavated near St. Andrew's Lake and got a boiler with two pounds of jewelry Mansi peoples.

The staff and students of the Tyumen State Academy of Culture and Arts, going on an archaeological expedition to the St. Andrew's Lake near Tyumen, did not even know that in the end will make a real discovery.

During the excavations they found leaky copper pot, which contained two kilograms of silver jewelry.

- We did not expect that to come across a treasure, - told Life News expedition leader candidate of historical sciences Alexei Gordienko. - In the Tyumen region archeologists have never had such finds. Artifact is likely related to X - XII century found jewelry, we believe, could have belonged to some military leaders.

At the bottom of the boiler lay sprawled four hryvnia in the form of a hoop with stones. According to archaeologists, such ornaments in those days wore on his neck wealthy people. Also, historians have found pendants with precious stones, necklaces of beads and lining on the belt with images of stars and the bear, typical of the Khanty-Mansiysk mythology.

Found items are likely to have been made in the Volga Bulgaria, although we found in the boiler and Arab coins - said the curator of archaeologists Alexei Gordienko. - All this testifies to the fact that the jewels belonged to some well-known family, whose members for centuries to collect, store, and have inherited these jewels. For example, the results are hryvnia to the IX century, some items can be attributed to a later time. We assume that all the jewels one of the members of an ancient family just hid during the invasion of the Tatar-Mongols on their land.

At 10 meters from the treasure fortunate archaeologists made another surprising discovery. From the land they got big mirrors that used to nomadic warriors used for ritual burial of the dead.

Findings, which have no analogues in Western Siberia, historians have transferred to the Tyumen Academy of Culture and Arts. Once scientists conduct the necessary research, a unique treasure will become the property of the Museum of Private Collections in Tyumen.
