Ramses III throats cut

Pharaoh Ramses III died a violent death, BBC News reports, citing a study group of Italian scientists led by Albert Zink . Pharaoh throats cut - a deep wound on the neck of Ramses III was found on CT scans.

According to doctors, the wound was applied sharp blade and could easily cause the death of Pharaoh. We can not assert with absolute probability that the cause of death of Ramses III became the wound, but we are inclined to the idea. Cut could do embalmers, but this is unlikely  I know of such cases,  said Zink.

The scientist added that in the past the mummy of Ramses III were X-ray examination, but in the pictures did not find anything, and CT only allowed to reveal cut. According to Zina on CT images in the wound is visible amulet in the form of Hawkeye Mountain. Scientists believe that the amulet can put into the wound during mummification, as believed in its healing power.

The fact that Ramses III could be killed, was known earlier  about a plot to assassinate the pharaoh is written in the Law of Turin papyrus. According to this document, conspired against Ramses III, one of his wives, a woman named Theia, and her son Pentewere. Just a conspiracy was involved more than 20 people. Papyrus known that the conspirators were punished, but it is unclear if they managed to bring the plan into execution.
